+RICS Building Conservation Award for the Plaza, Stockport

The Plaza was built in the 1930’s - the first in a generation of super cinemas. It was listed as a Grade II building before closing in 1998. Sold to the Stockport Plaza Trust in 2000 it has undergone an extensive programme of restoration.

‘The Cafe Lounge with its magnificent plaster work and restored light sconces is a heady mix of gold, copper and original paint effects in green and distressed gold that were invented originally by G F Holding the original decorators of the venue in 1932, and our current decorators now, therefore ensuring we have an exact replication of what promises to be Stockport’s premier place to meet and relax.’
